Lower Greenville is part of Near Uptown Dallas and is home to many of the areas most famous and oldest restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Greenville Avenue was in use long before the Central Expressway (US 75) was built and it was one of the main roads in Dallas. Many original shops and entertainment venues from pre-expressway days are still there.
St. Paddy’s day, March 17th, is one of the biggest days in Near Uptown Dallas. The party starts early in the district with a traditional Irish and Texan parade, and there are plenty of restaurants, bars and nightclubs celebrating all day and into the night. There are many popular places that shouldn’t be missed, especially for the food in Near Uptown Dallas. Look for the Blue Goose Cantina, Dodie’s New Orleans Food, The Winedale Tavern and Stan’s Blue Note. Some of these just can’t be duplicated anywhere else.
The Central Expressway really enabled Dallas’ urban sprawl to happen. The US 75 really made it easy to live just outside of Dallas proper and live in a smaller community in Near Uptown Dallas. Have your cake and eat it, too. Enjoy being part of something big, (Dallas), while living in the friendly, pedestrian friendly and hip adjacent area for much less money.
